Multifamily property owners: Did you know that obtaining SafeWays Certification for your property can save you on liability insurance?

Consider the experience of ALCO Management, which has a number of their properties SafeWays certified. As they sought to change insurance carriers, one of the better insurers (rated A++ by A.M. Best and A+ by Standard & Poor’s) initially declined to even provide a bid, based on the high crime rates around some of the properties.

According to ALCO, “as we told our story, [the insurer] really liked that some of the properties they were concerned about were SafeWays certified. They didn’t give a set discount, but they gave the best bid. So, we went from them not willing to issue a bid to issuing the best bid.”
